Dr Zia Stratos

Dr Zia Stratos is a U.S.-trained medical doctor and a UK-certified Registered Associate Nutritionist, as well as a WALSH Advanced Nutrient Therapy Certified Practitioner. She is the Head of the Nutrition Team at the Galen Clinic in London, where she works closely with Dr Nathan Curran as a functional medicine nutritionist. Dr Stratos began her academic journey at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., where she majored in psychology before going on to study medicine. During her time working in U.S. hospitals, she witnessed firsthand the impact of poor diet and lifestyle choices on health. This led her to pursue a Master’s degree in Clinical and Public Health Nutrition at University College London (UCL). Her research on diet and autoimmunity has since been published in a respected medical journal. As an integrative nutritionist and functional medicine practitioner, Dr Stratos takes a collaborative and holistic approach to patient care. She specialises in gut health, using food and lifestyle as primary tools for healing, and has extensive experience counselling individuals on forming sustainable, healthier habits. She looks at the body as an interconnected ecosystem, aiming to identify and address the root causes of symptoms. Beyond nutrition, she incorporates mindfulness, relaxation techniques, nature, and movement as part of her approach to overall wellbeing. Dr Stratos has held several key roles throughout her career. She is currently Head of Nutrition and Functional Medicine at The Galen Clinic, where she has been working since September 2024. She has also been a self-employed Functional Medicine Practitioner and Nutritionist at Food as Medicine since January 2020, specialising in gut health, hormonal health, autoimmunity, and mental health for both children and adults. Previously, she worked as a Senior Biomedical Practitioner at The Key Clinic from March 2022 to September 2024, where she led paediatric nutrition support and applied WALSH targeted nutrient protocols. From June 2018 to December 2020, she served as Nutrition Lead at Metaphys, providing nutritional counselling as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team. Earlier in her career, she worked with organisations such as the World Health Organization, The Trussell Trust, DC General Shelter/Clinic, and UNICEF, focusing on health systems, food analysis, and preventive medicine. She speaks English, Dutch, French, Portuguese, and Spanish.
