About
I am a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with over 20 years of
experience in orthopaedic and trauma surgery, specialising in spinal surgery.
My clinical expertise covers a broad spectrum of spinal conditions, including
degenerative disorders, trauma, and spinal tumours. I also offer pain
management procedures such as image-guided spinal injections to support
patients with spine-related conditions.
My advanced training includes fellowships at several
renowned institutions, including the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital
(Stanmore), Norwich University Hospitals, and Queen’s Medical Centre
(Nottingham). These placements provided me with comprehensive experience in
managing complex spinal cases and further strengthened my surgical and
diagnostic skills.
In my current role at South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS
Foundation Trust, I manage both general orthopaedic trauma and spinal surgery.
I am actively involved in postgraduate education and play a key role in the
training and supervision of core surgical trainees and specialist registrars.
I believe in a patient-centred approach to care. I place
great emphasis on listening to my patients, understanding their individual
needs, and working collaboratively to achieve the best possible outcomes.
In addition to my clinical and teaching responsibilities, I
hold honorary teaching contracts with both Dundee and Teesside Universities,
where I contribute to postgraduate medical education
experience in orthopaedic and trauma surgery, specialising in spinal surgery.
