Dr Rhodri Phillip

Dr Rhodri Phillip OBE is a consultant in rheumatology and rehabilitation medicine, with a Masters in Sports Injury. He currently works with Pure Sports Medicine in London, Remedy Healthcare, with Dorset Orthopaedic and independently. Prior this he worked in the military at the Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre, formerly at Headley Court and latterly Stanford Hall. His primary role was complex trauma rehabilitation and he delivered care to patients with a range of issues from multiple fractures to amputations, spinal cord and peripheral nerve injuries, soft tissue issues and CRPS. He was the clinical lead for the service for 10 years and served as DMRC Clinical Director from 2018 to 2021, when he retired from the military. His practice also includes rheumatology with a focus on seronegative disease. As part of his DMRC work he supported the other clinical teams, treating MSK issues, chronic pain and post-COVID/viral conditions. He helped introduce osseointegration to military amputees and has worked on numerous novel solutions to maximise patient function. He was awarded an OBE for services to military rehabilitation in 2018. Rhodri has also previously worked with elite Army and Combined Services sports teams, was part of Team GB’s medical team at the Athens Paralympics and assisted many of his military patients in achieving their sporting ambitions.  His main focus is on coordinated and goal-focussed, team delivered rehabilitation in order to maximise everyone’s chances of a return to an active and fulfilling life following injury. More recently Rhodri has also started doing medico-legal reports covering rehabiltiation issues. This service is available via Pure Sports Medicine
