About Prof Timothy Board
Tim is Professor of Orthopaedics at The Centre for Hip Surgery, Wrightington Hospital, Wigan, Lancashire. He specialises solely in hip and knee problems and his main interest is hip replacement and has been practising as a consultant surgeon in this field for over 12 years. He undertakes his private practice on the John Charnley Wing at Wrightington Hospital, a specialist orthopaedic hospital that performs more hip and knee replacements and revisions than any other hospital in the UK. He has recently led innovations in day case hip replacement at Wrightington and hip replacement in children with Royal Manchester Childrens Hospital. He is active Nationally and Internationally in the filed of hip surgery, currently serving on the executive board of the British Hip Society. Until recently he was a member of the British Orthopaedic Association Research Committee. He is the Greater Manchester NIHR CLRN lead for Orthopaedics. He has published over 80 scientific papers (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/?term=board+t) and currently collaborates with researchers at Leeds, Manchester and Oxford Universities. He has over 3700 citations on Google Scholar and an h-index of 22.
