About Prof Michael Mahmoudi
Professor Michael Mahmoudi is a highly respected Consultant Cardiologist at Wessex Cardiology, based at Spire Southampton Hospital. With a special interest in coronary intervention, he manages a wide range of cardiological conditions including coronary artery disease, chest pain, heart failure, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, valvular heart disease, and heart complications arising from cancer treatments (cardio-oncology). He leads the transcatheter mitral and tricuspid valve services at Southampton. Prof. Mahmoudi holds a BSc (1993) and MBBS (2006) from the University of London, and a PhD in cardiovascular medicine from the University of Cambridge (2008). He was awarded Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP) in 2016 and is also a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC). His clinical expertise includes interventional cardiology, mitral and tricuspid valve repair, intra-coronary imaging, alcohol septal ablation, and general cardiology. In addition to his clinical practice, he is actively involved in research, contributing to advances in cardiology with a focus on improving patient outcomes. He is known for his patient-centred approach and commitment to evidence-based care. Outside of medicine, Prof. Mahmoudi enjoys reading and fencing. His blend of academic achievement, technical skill, and compassionate care make him a trusted specialist in the management of complex heart conditions.
