Professor Brian Davidson is a consultant in hepatopancreatobiliary and liver transplant surgery at the Royal Free Hospital, and Professor of Surgery and Head of Surgical Research at University College London. His private practice is with HCA Healthcare UK, primarily at The Wellington Hospital in St John’s Wood, with additional clinics at the Platinum Medical Centre in St John’s Wood and the Golders Green Outpatients and Diagnostics Centre. He specialises in liver, biliary tract and pancreatic surgery and the surgical management of cancer. He has played a key role in the development of the HPB and liver transplant unit at the Royal Free and maintains an active tertiary referral practice.

Alongside surgery, he leads a major research programme in HPB disease at UCL, has authored over 600 peer-reviewed papers and over twenty textbook chapters, and has supervised 40 PhD and MD degrees. He is active in clinical trials and evidence-based healthcare and has held national advisory and editorial roles, including advisor to NICE and national cancer programmes, senior editor of the Cochrane HPB group and NIHR lead for UK Surgery.
