About Prof Andrew Baildam
Professor Andrew Baildam is a highly respected Consultant Breast Surgeon with a career spanning more than three decades. After earning his medical degree from the University of Manchester in 1978, he undertook specialist training in surgical oncology, breast plastic surgery, and reconstructive techniques. He later joined The Christie Hospital in Manchester as a Consultant, where he established a reputation for clinical excellence and innovation in breast cancer care. Professor Baildam has made significant contributions to advancing oncoplastic breast surgery, particularly for patients with genetic predispositions to breast cancer. He has led the development of new surgical approaches and was instrumental in establishing the UK’s pioneering cross-specialty oncoplastic training fellowships. His influence extends nationally through leadership roles, including serving as President of the Association of Cancer Surgery and Chair of the Cancer Surgery Committee at the Royal College of Surgeons of England. Committed to research, Professor Baildam has authored over 200 peer-reviewed papers, abstracts, and book chapters. His expertise covers the full breadth of breast disease, including breast cancer, reconstruction, risk-reducing surgery, family history assessment, breast diagnostics, and revision procedures. He is an active member of BAPRAS, the Association of Breast Surgery, and the European Society of Surgical Oncology.
