About

Mr Ronan Treacy graduated medicine at the University of Birmingham in 1983. He was appointed as Consultant at the famous Royal Orthopaedic Hospital in 1994 specialising in hip replacement surgery. He is especially well known for his pioneering work with Mr Derek McMinn when they developed, what is known as the "Birmingham Hip Replacement" which transformed the hip replacement procedure.
Mr Treacy is vastly experienced and currently performs hundreds of hip resurfacings per year, in addition to other hip and knee procedures. He regularly gives lectures across the world discussing his vast experience in the treatment of the 'active patient' population. He is also particularly interested in young adults suffering from hip problems.
In 2008, he was recognised by the Lord Mayor of Birmingham for his outstanding contribution to Orthopaedics in the city. In 2010, he was awarded an Honorary Doctorate by the University of Birmingham and in 2013 was elected as Staff Governor to the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital Foundation Trust.
