About

Dr. Daniel Broman MBChB MSc MRCS MRCP(UK) DipSEM PGCME PGCert(US) FHEA FFSEM(UK)

Dr Daniel Broman is a leading Consultant in Musculoskeletal, Sport and Exercise Medicine and is the current Head of Sports Medicine for City Football Group (CFG) and Head of Medical Governance for the Football Association (FA). He consults privately at The Holly Private Hospital and Nuffield St. Bartholomew’s Hospital.

With a career committed to the health and performance of athletes, Dr Broman is a key figure in global football medicine, providing expert care to elite domestic and international players. He leads medical services for City Football Group, who are a leading global football organisation and his work includes providing clinical care and specialist support to clubs across five continents, including Manchester City, New York City, Girona, Melbourne City, Palermo, Bahia, Lommel SK, ESTAC, Montevideo City Torque, Mumbai City, Shenzhen Peng City and Yokohama Marinos.

He was previously employed as the first team doctor at West Ham United FC, where he worked with the team both domestically in the Premier League and internationally for UEFA competitions, including being part of the team to win the Europa Conference League in 2023. His work with the FA has previously included roles as team doctor for the England WU21’s and England U18’s and Dr. Broman has worked at a number of international tournaments including the FIFA WU20 World Cup, the FIFA U17 World Cup and the Toulon Tournament. He is a consultant for the UK Sports Institute and previously acted as Chief Medical Officer for British Canoeing. He has also previously held roles at Chelsea FC, Tottenham Hotspur FC and Reading FC. He has worked at numerous international sporting events for European Tour Golf, London Marathon, Tour de France, Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games and London 2012 Olympic Games.

Dr Broman feels passionately about the use of physical activity as a therapeutic intervention for many medical conditions. He is a strong advocate for a non-surgical approach to sports medicine and musculoskeletal health, believing that exercise is medicine and central to recovery from injury.

Dr Broman graduated in Medicine in 2010 and underwent training in Acute Medicine in London becoming a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons (MRCS) in 2013 and Member of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP) in 2014. He was awarded a Master’s degree in Sports Medicine, Exercise and Health from University College London in 2015 and subsequently completed Higher Specialist Training in Sport and Exercise Medicine in London and was appointed as a Consultant in 2019 becoming a Fellow of the Faculty of Sport and Exercise Medicine. During his specialist training, he also gained a PGCert in Medical Ultrasound with distinction from AECC University College and completed a PGCert in Medical Education from University College London, following which he was selected as a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

Dr Broman has a strong interest in clinical academia and medical education. He has published research in a number of peer-reviewed journals and has presented at multiple international conferences. He has been awarded prizes for his work in Sport and Exercise Medicine from the British Association of Sport and Exercise Medicine and the British Lung Foundation. Dr Broman teaches widely in Sport and Exercise Medicine. He serves on Sport and Exercise Medicine committees for the Faculty of Sport and Exercise Medicine, the Royal College of Physicians and the Royal Society of Medicine.

“Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions.”
