About Mr Amir Ghanbari
Mr Amir Ghanbari is a General Surgeon and Colorectal surgeon. His current NHS post is at Homerton University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, London where he is the clinical director for the department of general surgery. His areas of expertise are laparoscopic and open colorectal surgery, general and emergency surgery. His interests include colorectal cancers, inflammatory bowel disease, diverticular disease, hernia repair, gall bladder surgery, haemorrhoids, fistulas, anal fissures, pilonidal disease, endoscopy (colonoscopy, flexible sigmoidoscopy)and emergency surgery. Mr Ghanbari qualified in Medicine at the University of Dundee with Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery degrees in 2002. He conducted surgical training in London and the East Midlands. He completed a Royal College of Surgeons fellowship in colorectal surgery in 2017 and was appointed as a consultant general and colorectal surgeon in 2018. He is also a member of the Association of Coloproctology of Great Britain and Ireland. In addition, Mr Ghanbari as an active interest in teaching and research. He has written a number of peer-reviewed journals and has presented at national and international meetings. He lectures and supervises medical students as part of their perioperative training.
