About Dr Simon Anderson
Dr Simon Anderson is a Consultant Gastroenterologist at London Bridge Hospital, and also practises at Guy's & St Thomas' Foundation Trust. At the renowned London Bridge Hospital, Dr Anderson and his team carry out consultations, diagnosis and treatment of digestive and stomach diseases such as inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and Crohn's disease. Dr Anderson graduated from the University of Cape Town in 1990. He then underwent higher specialist training at King's College Hospital (Liver Diseases and Intensive Care) and Guy's and St Thomas' Hospital (Gastroenterology) in London. He was awarded a Wellcome Institute Research Fellowship and went on to conduct full-time research at St Thomas' Hospital. He was awarded a Doctorate of Medicine (MD) from the University of London in 2004. He was appointed Consultant Physician and Gastroenterologist at Guy's and St Thomas' Foundation Trust in 2006 where he leads an acute general medicine firm. His interests include all therapeutic endoscopy, colonoscopy and balloon enteroscopy, wireless capsule endoscopy and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). His research interests include techniques for the diagnosis and treatment of small-intestinal disease and ulcerative colitis. He is a lead investigator in a trial of the role of exercise in Crohn's disease and is a co-investigator into the genetics of IBD.
