Dr Sarah Wakelin is a UK accredited Consultant Dermatologist. She works part time in the Dermatology Department of St Mary's Hospital, Imperial College Healthcare Trust, London and part time in private practice.
Dr. Wakelin obtained an intercalated BSc in pharmacology in 1985 in qualified as medical doctor at King's College, London in 1988. After this, she spent three years working in general medicine before specialising in dermatology and completed her higher specialist training in dermatology in 1998. The last two years of her training were spent specialising in allergic skin diseases at the Institute of Dermatology, St John's Hospital, London where she was Senior Registrar in the Contact Dermatitis and Occupational Skin Disease Department.
In 1999, she was appointed as a Consultant Dermatologist at St Mary's Hospital, which is now part of Imperial College Healthcare Trust, a large central London teaching hospital. Her work at St Mary's includes the care of adults with skin diseases in an out-patient and in-patient setting and she is responsible for providing skin allergy diagnostic services to the trust.
Dr. Wakelin is a a keen educator and is also a co-organiser of the dermatology module in the Imperial College Post Graduate Diploma and MSc in clinical allergy courses and in recognition of this has been granted the title of Honorary Senior Lecturer.
