About Dr Axel Walther
Dr Walther is a Consultant Medical Oncologist at the Bristol Cancer Institute, part of the University Hospitals Bristol. He is the lead of Gynaecological Cancer Services and a member of the University of Bristol Cancer Community, as well as the National Cancer Research Institute's Ovarian and Endometrial Groups. He has an MA in Medical Sciences from the University of Cambridge and completed his BM in clinical training at the University of Oxford in 1997. He holds a PhD in cancer genetics from University College London. He worked in a number of hospitals as a junior doctor, completing his specialist cancer training at the Royal Marsden Hospital in London. Dr Walther moved to Bristol with his wife and two children in 2011 to take up his Consultant post. He enjoys playing hockey for Clifton Robinsons and the Germany Masters teams.
