About Dr Andrew Gauden
Dr. Andrew Gauden is a Cerebrovascular Neurosurgeon. Their clinical focus is the surgical and neurointerventional treatment of cerebrovascular disorders. They specialise in treating brain aneurysms, moyamoya disease, brain and spinal arteriovenous and other vascular malformations, as well as stroke and cerebrospinal fluid-venous disorders. In addition to their special interest in cerebrovascular disease, Dr. Gauden offers a wide range of general neurosurgical services. They also offer vertebroplasty in osteoporotic and pathological vertebral body fractures and percutaneous sclerotherapy for veno-lymphatic malformations. Dr. Gauden's clinical practice has a strong academic focus and commitment to research. Their current research focus lies in the area of moyamoya disease and revascularisation procedures (cerebral bypass surgery), as well as arteriovenous shunting vascular malformations and in cerebrospinal fluid-venous disorders, such as idiopathic intracranial hypertension and cerebrospinal fluid-venous fistulae. Dr. Gauden obtained their Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery with First Class Honours at the University of Tasmania. They have subsequently trained with world-class neurosurgeons across Australia and New Zealand, as well as the United States of America.
