About Mr Andrew David Moon
Mr. Andrew David Moon is a Consultant Urological Surgeon with expertise in Endourology, particularly in the removal of stones from the ureters and kidneys and the management of upper tract urothelial cancers. He also has a strong interest in the surgical management of general urological conditions, day-case urological surgery, and diagnostic urology. Recently, he established the LA TULA (Transurethral Laser Ablation of bladder tumours) service in Northumbria, expanding treatment options for patients in the region. Mr. Moon graduated from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne Medical School in 2009 and pursued Core Surgical Training before specialising in Urology in the North East of England. He completed his FRCS (Urol) in Edinburgh in 2017. In 2018, he was awarded the TUF (The Urology Foundation) Travelling Fellowship Bursary, which allowed him to undergo advanced Endourological training in Sri Lanka. In 2019, he was appointed as a Consultant Urological Surgeon at Freeman Hospital, with an additional Honorary Consultant role at Northumbria NHS Trust, where he also serves as the Clinical Lead. Deeply involved in medical education, Mr. Moon plays an active role in training medical students, Foundation Programme doctors, and surgical trainees, including cadaveric surgical training. As Clinical and Educational Supervisor to several trainees, he provides essential guidance throughout their training. Additionally, as the Secretary of the North of England Urology Society (NEUS), he organises the annual regional meeting and other events, contributing to the advancement of the urology field in the region.
