Murdostoun Brain Injury Rehabilitation and Neurological Care Centre provides rehabilitation, care, and support to those over the age of 16 who have suffered a brain injury or those with a neurological disorder. The centre offers specialist therapy for those in the early phases of recovery from an acquired brain injury, as well as residential care for those with progressive neurological illnesses like Motor Neurone Disease. Other conditions managed at the centre include epilepsy, Guillain-Barre Syndrome, Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson's disease, and traumatic brain injury (eg following a road traffic accident).The site offers 46 rooms across two units: a brain injury rehabilitation centre and a neurological care unit. Residents also have access to a hydrotherapy pool, a rehabilitation gymnasium, and extensive gardens. The Murdostoun team is multi-disciplinary and includes a rehabilitation consultant, a consultant neuropsychiatrist, a consultant clinical neuropsychologist, a clinical psychologist, a neurorehabilitation counsellor, as well as a specialist nursing team, physiotherapists, speech and language therapists, and occupational therapists. They are highly experienced in managing a range of conditions as well as associated needs such as PEG feeds and skin integrity problems. They are also able to offer cognitive rehabilitation, functional retraining, and SMART assessment if required. The team ensure to work closely with each other to meet attainable goals, and all therapies are centred on the areas that will help service users to accomplish their aims.The Active Care Group is a specialist provider of complex care services for people of all ages across the UK.
