Dr William Chan is a Consultant Interventional Cardiologist at HeartWest Hoppers Crossing, St Albans and Williamstown. Dr Chan is also an Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Melbourne and an Adjunct Lecturer Monash University.
Dr Chan completed his medical degree at the University of Melbourne in 2001 followed by his advanced cardiology training at the Royal Melbourne Hospital. He later was awarded his PhD by Monash University for his research work carried out at Alfred Hospital and the BakerIDI Heart and Diabetes Institute which surrounded acute heart attacks, peripheral arterial disease and novel uses of cardiac MRI in heart attacks. He also completed a further 3 years of postdoctoral clinical training and research at Mount Sinai Hospital and Toronto General Hospital in Toronto, Canada. Dr Chan is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and a Fellow of the Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand.
Dr Chan has clinical interests in all areas of general cardiology. In his current clinical practice, he performs invasive cardiac investigations and a range of therapeutic procedures, including: angioplasty, stenting, transcatheter septal ablation and complex revascularisation procedures.
