About Mr Vinodhkumar Pannirselvam
Mr Vinodhkumar Pannirselvam is a Consultant Spinal Surgeon with extensive international experience in advanced spinal surgery and minimally invasive techniques. He specialises in the treatment of complex spinal conditions, with particular expertise in minimally invasive spinal surgery and the use of advanced navigation and robotic-assisted technologies designed to improve surgical precision, minimise tissue disruption, reduce post-operative pain, and support faster recovery. Mr Pannirselvam completed his medical degree at Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) in 1999 before undertaking specialist training in Orthopaedic Surgery in India, where he developed an early interest in advanced spinal care. He subsequently completed fellowship training in spine surgery and worked as a spinal consultant in India, further developing his expertise in the management of spinal disorders and surgical techniques. He later received a prestigious research fellowship at Johns Hopkins University in the United States, where he contributed to orthopaedic sports medicine research. His career then progressed to Singapore, where he completed further specialist training at National University Hospital. During this time, he gained significant experience in minimally invasive spine surgery and advanced operative technologies, including spinal navigation and robotic-assisted systems aimed at enhancing surgical accuracy and patient outcomes. In 2015, Mr Pannirselvam was awarded the FRCS (Orthopaedics) qualification. He moved to the United Kingdom in 2017 to undertake further advanced training in complex spinal surgery in Southampton, before going on to hold consultant spinal surgery positions at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham and in Preston. Since 2022, he has served as a Consultant Spinal Surgeon at Royal Stoke University Hospital, part of University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust, where he plays an important role within the specialist spinal surgery team. His clinical practice focuses on the delivery of modern, technology-driven spinal care using minimally invasive approaches and advanced robotic and navigation systems to optimise outcomes for patients with spinal conditions.
