About
Vino Vivekanandam is a neurologist based at The Wellington Hospital, part of HCA Healthcare UK in London. She has worked as a consultant since 2017, offering a wide skillset in treating patients with neurological conditions.
She completed her specialist training in neurology and neurophysiology in Australia before moving to London to undertake research in skeletal muscle channelopathies. She is the Clinical Trials Lead at the Queen Square Clinical Trials Centre and leads research on muscle channelopathies at the UCL Queen Square Institute of Neurology.
Her clinical interests include neuromuscular conditions such as muscle pain, genetic muscle disorders, pins and needles, neuropathy, myasthenia, myotonia, and myotonic dystrophy. She also has experience with neurotoxicity related to cancer treatment and with headache management.
She has led a clinical trial as Chief Investigator comparing treatments for patients with myotonia congenita and is involved in several ongoing research initiatives. She is a member of the British Muscle Society Council and the Association of British Neurologists Research Committee.
She has received a number of awards, including the MDUK Early Career Researcher of the Year 2022 and the Association of British Neurologists 2021 Top Platform Presentation Prize. She has presented at several international conferences, including the World Muscle Society Conference and the British Muscle Society Conference.
