About

Dr Vas Kavadas is a medical doctor with a long-standing interest in weight loss medicine and the clinical treatment of obesity. She graduated from the University of Bristol in 1996 and worked in the NHS for 12 years, during which time she completed a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree focused on quality of life research. Her career later led her into legal medicine, where she witnessed firsthand the significant impact chronic diseases like obesity have on people’s physical health, emotional wellbeing and everyday functioning.

To deepen her expertise in weight management, Dr Kavadas completed a postgraduate diploma in Obesity and Weight Management with the University of South Wales and an AFN-certified course in Nutrition. She is also a SCOPE-Certified Practitioner, holding the only internationally recognised qualification in obesity management issued by the World Obesity Federation, considered the global benchmark in the field.

In 2022, she founded Medical Weight Care, a CQC-registered weight loss clinic offering individualised medical support for people seeking to lose weight or maintain previous weight loss. Based in North Yorkshire, the clinic supports patients from Harrogate, York, Durham, Teesside and beyond, combining lifestyle medicine, nutritional support and prescription-based treatments where appropriate. Dr Kavadas offers both in-person and remote consultations to make her care accessible and flexible.

She is a member of several respected professional organisations including the Association for the Study of Obesity (ASO), the British Society of Lifestyle Medicine (BSLM), and The Nutrition Society. Her work is grounded in the belief that lifestyle interventions and medical treatments can work together to sustainably improve health and quality of life.

“Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions.”
