About A/Prof Vahid Mohabbati
Dr. Vahid Mohabbati is the owner and director of Sydney Pain Management Centre (SPMC) and Sydney Pain Day Surgery. He is a highly experienced pain management specialist with a focus on interventional pain treatments, including neuromodulation, spinal implants, radiofrequency ablation (RFA), and advanced pain therapies. Dr. Mohabbati is also a renowned physician in the treatment of cancer pain, nerve pain, musculoskeletal pain, and joint pain. He holds multiple fellowships, including those from The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP), The Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP), The Australian Chapter of Palliative Medicine (FAChPM), The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists, and the Faculty of Pain Medicine (FFPMANZCA). Dr. Mohabbati's expertise includes modern pain relief techniques such as intrathecal pumps, spinal cord stimulators, DRG, and peripheral nerve stimulators, offering “remote control” pain relief. Dr. Mohabbati's training began overseas as an Emergency Physician before moving to Australia to further specialise in General Practice, Pain Medicine, and Palliative Medicine at Brisbane and Sydney hospitals. He has served as a Staff Specialist at Royal Prince Alfred (RPAH) and Chris O'Brien’s Lifehouse, and as a VMO at Liverpool Hospital before transitioning to private practice. Under Dr. Mohabbati’s leadership, SPMC has grown into one of the largest multidisciplinary pain centres in New South Wales. The centre offers acute and chronic pain management services and has been accredited as a Tier One training centre by the Faculty of Pain Medicine. SPMC serves a wide region from Parramatta to remote areas such as Goulburn, Bathurst, Orange, and the Central Coast. In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Mohabbati founded the Sydney Pain Research Centre (SPRC) in 2019 to advance pain medicine science. SPRC is involved in national and international clinical trials and recently received a $5 million grant for the development of wearable pain relief technologies. As a mentor and educator, Dr. Mohabbati continues to train the next generation of pain specialists and drive the development of modern, evidence-based pain management practices. He is passionate about the art of medicine being used to comfort others, and is dedicated to every patients' journey, tailoring their care to their individual needs.
"Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions."
