Die Ausbildung zum Facharzt für Innere Medizin absolvierte er an der Charité, am Deutschen Herzzentrum Berlin und am Ernst von Bergmann Krankenhaus in Potsdam, wo er umfassend in der klinischen Akutversorgung tätig war, unter anderem in der Notaufnahme, auf der Intensivstation und im Notarztdienst.
Ab 2015 setzte Dr. Karhausen seine Weiterbildung zum Facharzt für Kardiologie am Herzzentrum Brandenburg fort. Nach seinem Umzug nach Tirol arbeitete er bis Ende 2023 im Krankenhaus Schwaz. Seit Anfang 2024 ist er als niedergelassener Internist und Kardiologe in Innsbruck tätig.
In seiner Praxis bietet Dr. Karhausen ein breites Spektrum internistischer und kardiologischer Diagnostik an. Zu den Leistungen gehören:
Vorsorgeuntersuchung, Untersuchungen vor Operationen, Echokardiographie, Halsschlagader, Schilddrüse und Bauchorganen Echokardiographie. Außerdem Lungenfunktionstest, Stressechokardiographie, Belastungs EKG und Spiroergometrie sowie Langzeit Untersuchungen von EKG und Blutdruck.
