Zuvor war Dr. Tarhan an der Klinik für Orthopädie (Friedrichsheim) des Universitätsklinikum Frankfurt tätig, wo er die Schulter- und Sportorthopädie leitete.
Zu seinem Werdegang zählen neben 15 Jahren Tätigkeit an der Universitätsklinik Frankfurt auch Auslandsaufenthalte, wie 2008 als wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter an der University of Arizona, Tuscon/USA.
