Dr Susan Hinckfuss is a highly experienced Specialist Paediatric Dentist who has been practising in Melbourne for over a decade. Her passion for dentistry began while working in private general dental practice in the Geelong area, where she developed a special interest in children's dental care. She then went on to complete a Doctor of Clinical Dentistry and three years of specialist training in Paediatric Dentistry at the University of Melbourne, including training at the Royal Children’s Hospital of Melbourne.
After completing her specialty training, Dr Hinckfuss moved to the USA, where she worked as an Assistant Clinical Professor at the School of Dental Science at the University of Minnesota. She returned to Melbourne in 2010 and has since worked in private specialist practice. She has lectured widely on many aspects of Paediatric Dentistry and has had her research published in international dental journals.
Dr Hinckfuss is experienced in performing all aspects of paediatric dentistry and has special interests in the management of anxious children and children with Autism Spectrum Disorders. She is also interested in the management of dental trauma and complex conditions that affect children, including enamel defects and early childhood caries. She is particularly skilled in the placement of white zirconia crowns, which are an alternative to stainless steel crowns for children.
Dr Hinckfuss believes in providing individualised treatment for each child, with a focus on creating a positive experience that avoids the development of dental anxiety. Her goal is to ensure that her young patients leave their dental appointments with a smile on their face.
