About
Professor Ohri began his cardiac training in London, training in several hospitals including the Middlesex Hospital, The Hammersmith Hospital and the National Heart and Lung Institute. Following this, he then did a fellowship at the Royal Postgraduate Medical for the British Heart Foundation. He was then appointed to his current position as consultant in 1998, and a year later was appointed Honorary Senior Lecturer by the University of Southampton. More recently, he was appointed Professor of Cardiothoracic Surgery in 2019 at the University of Southampton.
Professor Ohri remains an active researcher, examining the pathophysiology of cardiopulmonary bypass and in molecular mechanisms of aortic wall re-modelling. His work has resulted in the publication of over 120 articles in medical journals and 2 books. For his work in directing the work of his research fellows, the University of Southampton awarded him an MD and PhD. He also has a role on the editorial board of the medical journal "Heart" and sits on the International Board of the Cardiothoracic network.
