About Dr Stephen Attard
Dr. Stephen Attard is a seasoned Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist, holding memberships with the Royal College of Psychiatrists and the Faculty of Forensic and Legal Medicine of the Royal College of Physicians. In his role within the Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust, Dr. Attard specialises in working with individuals who have complex needs, including those within the Close Supervision Centre. Dr. Attard has extensive experience in establishing clinical services, including those dedicated to the assessment and treatment of ADHD. He has delivered presentations on the development of ADHD services in prison environments to local services and the Quality Network for Prison Mental Health Services (QNPMHS). His diverse clinical background spans private outpatient clinics, secure services (including Broadmoor Hospital), male and female psychiatric intensive care, liaison and diversion, and community services. Dr. Attard has held leadership roles, contributed to policy changes and strategy development. Dr. Attard is actively involved in medical education, leading training projects locally and internationally, including Denmark and Ghana, where he collaborated with the Royal College of Psychiatrists to develop and deliver a forensic training program for Ghanaian psychiatrists. He is dedicated to research and was highly commended in the 2021 Faculty of Forensic Psychiatry Research Prize. Additionally, he is a published author in peer-reviewed national and international journals. As an experienced expert witness, Dr. Attard frequently provides oral evidence in both crown and magistrates courts. He has experience in preparing psychiatric reports for various legal proceedings.
