A/Prof Tan has extensive experience across a wide range of procedures, including arthroscopic shoulder surgery, labral and rotator cuff repair, shoulder replacement, Latarjet procedures, SLAP and shoulder stabilisation surgery, knee arthroscopy, chondral grafting, meniscal repair, and knee ligament reconstruction, including complex multi-ligament reconstructions. He also manages fractures using both surgical and non-surgical approaches.
In 2004, he founded St Vincent’s SportsMed at St Vincent’s Clinic in Sydney with the vision of creating a centre that combines clinical excellence with strong patient-focused care in a supportive environment. He has a longstanding commitment to research and teaching and has frequently hosted international shoulder courses, lecturing and demonstrating advanced arthroscopic techniques to surgeons across the Asia-Pacific region. In recognition of his ongoing academic contributions, including research into stem cell and regenerative therapies and shoulder surgery, he was awarded an Associate Professorship in 2014.
