👤 11 years of experience
About
years’ experience across a broad range of gynaecological conditions. His
principal areas of interest include minimal access (keyhole) surgery and
ambulatory gynaecology, with a particular focus on outpatient-based procedures.
He completed his specialist training in the South West region of the UK, including time at tertiary referral centres such as University Hospitals of Southampton. During his senior training years, he developed advanced expertise in the management of endometriosis while working at the Dorset Endometriosis Centre. In his NHS practice, Mr Salim manages a wide spectrum of gynaecological conditions and currently leads the ambulatory
gynaecology service.
Mr Salim is committed to providing patient-centred, evidence-based care. Patients are counselled thoroughly, with all appropriate management options discussed in line with current clinical guidance, enabling them to make informed decisions about their care. He has a strong interest in service development and innovation, seeking to streamline
care pathways to maximise patient benefit. More recently, he has introduced an
outpatient endometrial ablation service for the treatment of heavy menstrual
bleeding using second-generation devices such as NovaSure.
Within his areas of expertise, Mr Salim assesses and manages patients with pelvic pain and endometriosis, as well as menstrual disorders including heavy periods, irregular bleeding, intermenstrual bleeding, and breakthrough bleeding associated with hormonal contraception. Both medical and surgical treatment options are offered and tailored to individual patient needs.
Mr Salim also holds a postgraduate diploma in Public Health from Sydney, Australia. His formal training in epidemiology and health behaviour change underpins an inclusive and holistic approach to patient counselling, supporting women’s health from past to present and into future wellbeing. He is an active member of the British Society for Gynaecological Endoscopy and regularly attends national and international gynaecology conferences. In addition, he is actively involved in regional and national
teaching for trainees and professional colleagues.
“Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions.”
