About A/Prof Saurabh Gupta
Dr. Saurabh Gupta is an accomplished Interventional Gastroenterologist renowned for his expertise in advanced diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures. He specialises in pancreatic and biliary diseases, utilising techniques such as therapeutic Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS) and Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP). Dr. Gupta is also skilled in endoscopic resection of advanced neoplasia, including Barrett's endotherapy, as well as capsule endoscopy and balloon enteroscopy for small bowel disorders. Dr. Gupta began his academic journey with his medical degree from the University of New South Wales in 1999. He subsequently completed his Fellowship in Gastroenterology with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians. Following this, he pursued advanced training at Duke University Medical Center in North Carolina, USA, as part of the prestigious Advanced Endoscopy Fellowship. Returning to Brisbane, Australia, Dr. Gupta served as a senior consultant and interventional endoscopist for six years, before relocating back to Sydney in 2016. Highly regarded in his field, Dr. Gupta is a frequent invited speaker at national and international conferences. He plays an active role in the EUS taskforce for the Asia-Pacific region, contributing to the training and advancement of advanced endoscopy techniques. Dr. Gupta also serves on the Faculty of Endoscopy with the Gastroenterological Society of Australia. His expertise is certified by the Conjoint Committee for the Recognition of Training in Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, accrediting him for gastroscopy, colonoscopy, ERCP, and EUS procedures. Dr. Gupta also has multiple peer-reviewed articles to his name. His current research focuses on interventional EUS techniques, as well as early detection strategies for metastatic pancreatic cancer. Additionally, he investigates outcomes related to endoscopic management of complications arising from bariatric surgery. Dr. Gupta was recently awarded a Clinical Associate Professor title with the ANU School of Medicine and Psychology, and he continues to work with medical students and clinicians at the Sydney Adventist Hospital ANU Clinical School.
