Dr Pagano completed their medical degree at The University of Melbourne. They then undertook specialist training at The Royal Women's Hospital, Melbourne. Following this, Dr Pagano pursued further specialist qualifications at the Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (U.K). Dr Pagano was awarded two Tracy Maund Travelling Scholarships. The first allowed them to study laser treatment for managing abnormal pap smears and pre-cancerous conditions of the vulva. This experience enabled Dr Pagano to establish the first gynaecological laser treatment service in Victoria. The second scholarship allowed them to visit a number of specific vulvar disorders clinics in the UK, Italy and USA. Upon their return, Dr Pagano established the first multidisciplinary Benign Vulvar Disorders Clinic at The Royal Women's Hospital.
Dr Pagano has also held the position of Head of the public DES Follow Up Clinic at The Royal Women's Hospital. They were also the first doctor in Australia to use and publish on the use of Topical Amitriptyline cream in the management of Provoked Vestibulodynia. Dr Pagano has supervised and lectured medical students at The University of Melbourne. They have also assessed, trained and mentored many trainee Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.
