About

Mr. Richard Turrell is an experienced therapist specialising in substance misuse and behavioural health. Beginning his career in 2012, he initially focused on addictions therapy and has since expanded his expertise to include a range of issues such as depression, anxiety, shame, trauma, and compulsive sexual behaviours.

Mr. Turrell values building strong relationships with his clients, allowing him to gain a deep understanding of their unique challenges. Through this connection, he guides them towards developing coping skills that lead to freedom from substances or behaviours that have prompted them to seek help. He also offers longer-term support to address underlying issues, demonstrating a successful track record in this approach.

Drawing from a variety of evidence-based models and approaches, Mr. Turrell customises his therapeutic work to each individual, avoiding a "one-size-fits-all" approach. By meeting clients where they are and gaining a comprehensive understanding of their situation, he helps them identify strategies that align with their goals.

In addition to his private practice, Mr. Turrell maintains a clinic at the prestigious Nightingale Hospital in Marylebone, London. He also offers a personalised case management service for individuals seeking private inpatient primary, secondary, and tertiary mental/behavioural healthcare.

Mr. Turrell's extensive experience in treating addictive and compulsive behaviours began in 2010. After completing a highly regarded Addiction Counselling degree at the University of Bath, he worked in a residential addiction treatment clinic, providing care for substance and behavioural addictions. In 2019, he established his own practice in London and joined the team at Nightingale Hospital.

Continuing his professional development, Mr. Turrell is currently pursuing a Master's Degree in Integrative Psychotherapy at the renowned Metanoia Institute. His qualifications, accreditations, and memberships include a First-Class Honors BSc in Addictions Counselling, accreditation as a Member and Advanced Practitioner by the Federation of Drug and Alcohol Professionals (FDAP), and membership in professional associations dedicated to supporting individuals in overcoming addiction.

“Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions.”

— Richard Turrell
