About
Dr Rafael Bach is a Consultant Medical Oncologist at The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre NHS Foundation Trust, specialising in melanoma and skin cancer, with a particular focus on immunotherapy and the management of treatment-related toxicities through the Specialist Immunotherapy Toxicity Service (SIOTS).
He began his role as a consultant in October 2024, following international experience as a Medical Oncologist at Hospital del Mar - Parc de Salut MAR in Barcelona, where he worked for over five years. During this time, he developed extensive expertise in medical oncology, particularly in skin cancers and modern systemic therapies. He also spent time as a Visiting Research Fellow at Clatterbridge, further strengthening his academic and clinical links with the UK.
Dr Bach completed his primary medical qualification (MD) at Universidad de Málaga, with additional international training at University of Oulu. He has continued to advance his subspecialist expertise through postgraduate study, including a Master’s degree in Medical Oncology from Universitat de Girona and a postgraduate qualification in Precision Oncology from Universidad Francisco de Vitoria.
His clinical interests centre on the management of melanoma and other skin cancers, as well as the safe and effective use of immunotherapy, including recognising and treating immune-related side effects. With a strong academic foundation and international training background, Dr Bach brings a modern, evidence-based approach to oncology care, combining advanced treatment strategies with a focus on patient safety and personalised medicine.
