Following a two-year fellowship in medical retina at Moorfields Eye Hospital, he then pursued training at the Vanderbilt Medical Centre, Nashville, and a further two and half years undertaking clinical training in uveitis at the Jules Stein Eye Hospital, Los Angeles.
He is currently Professor of Ophthalmology at University College London with extensive clinical and research experience. He is Clinical and Research Lead at Moorfields Eye Hospital for treatments for age-related macular degeneration. He also co-leads the €16 million Macustar Consortium, which unites industry and academia to drive dry AMD research, is the clinical lead of the largest-ever UK Medical Research Council grant to develop novel non-VEGF anti-angiogenic therapies.
