Dr Peter Loder is an experienced colorectal surgeon with a specialist focus on disorders of the lower gastrointestinal tract, including conditions affecting the colon, rectum, and anus. His clinical expertise includes colonoscopy, colorectal cancer surgery, inflammatory bowel disease management, anal disorders, and the assessment and treatment of functional bowel conditions.
Dr Loder has a particular interest in restorative bowel surgery following treatment for ulcerative colitis, diverticulitis, and colorectal tumours. He is also experienced in bowel physiology studies and the management of faecal incontinence and other complex bowel function disorders.
He completed his general medical and surgical training at Royal North Shore Hospital, finishing his General Surgical training in 1991. He subsequently undertook advanced subspecialty training in colorectal surgery at St Mark’s Hospital, internationally recognised for excellence in colorectal and intestinal disease management. During his time in London, he gained broad experience in inflammatory bowel disease, colorectal cancer surgery, and functional bowel disorders.
Dr Loder has been in private surgical practice on Sydney’s North Shore since 1995. He currently holds appointments at Sydney Adventist Hospital, Westmead Private Hospital, Westmead Hospital, and Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Hospital.
His key clinical interests include colorectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, bowel reconstruction surgery, colonoscopy, and the investigation and treatment of faecal incontinence and other lower gastrointestinal functional disorders.
