About

Paul is a systemic family therapist based in Dublin. Originally from Ghanan, Paul has 15 years of experience in Irish mental health services. First, he trained and worked as a mental health nurse at the Central Mental Hospital in Dublin for 13 years. He obtained his first BSc degree in mental health nursing from Dublin City University in 2010 and had an MSc in Systemic Family Therapy from University College Dublin in 2024.

He works as an independent family therapist in the Dublin area. As an accredited and registered member of FTAI and ICP, he adheres to their high standards and regulations. He is available to provide therapy services for children, teenagers, adults, couples, families, and groups experiencing mental health and relational challenges.

As a first-generation immigrant from Ghana, Paul has experienced many transitional challenges in resettling and developing himself in Ireland. His motivation to become a family therapist stems from his personal and professional experience with mental health and relational challenges. Paul advocates for the underprivileged and identifies himself with a greater affinity with those marginalised and disadvantaged in society. He has 12 years of working experience in forensic nursing and has extensive knowledge of the impact of mental health on families. He understood the difficulties some patients have accepting their mental health diagnosis and the need to balance medical treatment with effective psychotherapy to aid clients in reaching their

optimum potential. Paul has a special interest in mental health, separation and marital breakups, culture shock and migrant relationship challenges, loss and grief and family dynamics.

Paul used various systemic psychotherapy approaches to help

his clients ease their relational or mental health suffering. He implores strategic,

narrative, dialogical, structured family therapy methods and other systemic approaches to help treat his clients. Paul offers face-to-face therapy in Dublin and online consultation, depending on the client's preferences.

“Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions.”
