About
Paola Lopez Rodriguez is a family and systemic psychotherapist at Nightingale Hospital. She works with individuals, couples and families experiencing a wide range of emotional, behavioural and psychological challenges. Her areas of experience include anxiety, depression, OCD, stress, mood disorders, panic attacks, self-harm, suicidal thoughts, ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, psychosis and schizophrenia, as well as interpersonal and family difficulties.
Paola is trained in systemic family therapy and uses a collaborative approach to help families and individuals explore patterns of communication, strengthen relationships and address issues in a way that respects the needs and perspectives of everyone involved. Her work is guided by a broad range of systemic models and therapeutic frameworks, which she adapts based on the needs, backgrounds and preferences of the people she works with. She places strong emphasis on creating a safe therapeutic environment where individuals and family members feel able to express themselves openly and work towards positive change.
She has worked in a variety of settings, including community and inpatient Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS), and with adolescents at risk of care or custody through the Functional Family Therapy model. In addition to her role at Nightingale Hospital, she currently works in the NHS supporting adults with psychosis. She has experience working with clients from a wide range of racial, cultural and religious backgrounds, and with young people from the LGBTQ+ community. Her therapeutic approach is inclusive, with attention given to the social systems and contexts that influence individual and family experiences.
Paola holds a Master’s in Systemic Family Therapy and a graduate certificate in Family Therapy from King’s College London. She originally trained as a psychologist in Spain, where she completed a psychology degree and a Master’s in Psychological Intervention in Social Areas at Valencia University. She is registered with the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) and is a member of the Association for Family Therapy and Systemic Practice (AFT). Paola conducts therapy in both English and Spanish.
