Dr Ossama Barakat is a UK Board-Certified Consultant Diabetologist and Endocrinologist with extensive experience in the management of diabetes, endocrine disorders, and metabolic diseases. He graduated from the Royal Free Hospital School of Medicine, London, in 1999 and completed his internal medicine training at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital, obtaining his MRCP in 2002.
Following a Research Fellowship (2002–2004) investigating the epidemiology of diabetic eye disease in East Anglia, Dr Barakat achieved his Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training (CCST) in Diabetes, Endocrinology, and General Internal Medicine in 2008 through the Cambridge Deanery.
Dr Barakat has held positions at several leading UK institutions, including Imperial College London NHS Trust, Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital, Durham University Hospital, Wexham Park, and The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Trust. In the UAE, he has served as a Consultant Diabetologist and Endocrinologist at Imperial College London Diabetes Centre and Burjeel Day Surgery Centre in Abu Dhabi.
His clinical expertise includes Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes, insulin pump management, obesity and metabolism disorders, thyroid disease (including thyroid disorders in pregnancy), osteoporosis, hypertension, and familial hyperlipidaemia.
A Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Scotland (FRCP) and Member of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP), Dr Barakat is recognised for his commitment to evidence-based practice and clinical excellence in endocrine and metabolic medicine.
