Dr Nekma Mila Meah is a Consultant Dermatologist with a specialist interest in the management of alopecia and scalp disorders. She achieved her medical degree (MBChB) from the University of Manchester in 2007 and went on to undertake her foundation training in the West Midlands before starting her specialist dermatology training programme in Liverpool. She qualified as a Consultant Dermatologist in 2017.
Dr Meah undertook an international fellowship in hair and scalp disorders under Professor Rodney Sinclair in Australia, and has published extensively in this area. She runs a specialist hair clinic at St Helens and Knowsley NHS Trust and is currently the Honorary Secretary of the British Hair and Nail Society.
In her post as Consultant Dermatologist at St Helens and Knowsley NHS Trust, she sees all aspects of general dermatology including medical dermatology (acne, rosacea, eczema, psoriasis, hyperhidrosis), skin cancers, mole checks, as well as performing regular dermatological surgery. In addition to running the specialist hair clinic, she manages patients in the specialist biologics clinic for patients with severe psoriasis.
Dr Meah is passionate about dermatology, teaching and research. She is Undergraduate Lead at St Helens and Knowsley NHS Trust, Honorary Clinical Lecturer at The University of Manchester and serves on the steering committee for the global COVID-19 alopecia registry – SECURE alopecia.
