Dr. Muhammad Younis is a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon with extensive training and experience in ophthalmology. He earned his BS in Biology and MD from the American University of Beirut (AUB), where he also completed his residency in Ophthalmology. He pursued two years of fellowship training in Pediatric Ophthalmology and Adult Strabismus at Moorfields Eye Hospital and the Hospital for Sick Children, University College London, England. He went on to hold academic posts at Saint James University Hospital and Leeds General Infirmary in North England for over two years.
Dr. Younis is a past president of the Lebanese Ophthalmological Society and has served as a national board member of the Middle East African Council of Ophthalmology (MEACO). He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (ACS) and currently president elect of the Lebanese Chapter. He is also a member of the International Strabismological Association (ISA), American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO), and the American Association of Paediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus (AAPOS). Additionally, he is an active board member of the Scientific Committee Bureau of the World Society of Paediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus (WSPOS) and an international board member of the International Paediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus Council (IPOSC).
He has participated as an invited speaker in national, regional, and international scientific meetings and has authored multiple publications in peer-reviewed journals. He also serves as a reviewer for the European Journal of Ophthalmology.
Dr. Younis’ clinical expertise includes advanced cataract surgery for adults and children, squint surgery, amblyopia management, keratoconus treatment, and screening for diabetic, hypertensive, and premature retinopathy. He also performs laser treatments for retinal and anterior segment diseases, manages ocular trauma, and carries out a wide range of investigative ophthalmology procedures such as OCT, angiography, ultrasonography, and orthoptic assessments.
