About

Dr Muayad Alasady is a highly experienced Cardiologist and Electrophysiologist practicing in Canberra. In addition to his clinical practice, he serves as a Senior Lecturer at the Medical School of the Australian National University.
Dr Alasady completed both his Basic and Advanced Physician training at Canberra Hospital, where he was awarded the ‘Best Registrar Prize.’ Subsequently, he pursued multiple specialised clinical training fellowships in general and electrophysiological cardiology, earning registrations in both Australia and Europe.
His contributions to cardiology are underscored by numerous publications in scientific journals and accolades from international cardiology conferences, including the Cardiac Society Meeting of Australia and New Zealand, Asia Pacific Heart Rhythm Disorder Conference, and North America Heart Rhythm Society Conference.
As a high-volume practitioner, Dr Alasady performs 500-600 cardiac ablations and implantations annually for patients with rhythm disorders. His procedural expertise includes thousands of complex ablations, pacemaker, and defibrillator implantations.
Dr Alasady’s commitment to advancing cardiology extends to his research pursuits. He completed a clinical Fellowship and PhD program at the Royal Adelaide Hospital and the University of Adelaide, focusing on ‘Atrial Arrhythmogenesis as a Consequence of Myocardial Ischemia’ under the guidance of Professor Prash Sanders and Dr Glenn Young.
After establishing the first cardiac electrophysiological service in Canberra at National Capital Private Hospital in 2013, Dr Alasady has expanded the unit significantly, introducing innovative procedures such as cardiac ablation and implantation of cutting-edge devices like subcutaneous cardiac defibrillators and leadless pacemakers.
To remain at the forefront of his field, Dr Alasady regularly attends prominent teaching institutions worldwide, exchanging knowledge and acquiring expertise on the latest cardiac technologies not yet available in Australia.

“Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions.”
