About

Emma McDonald is a Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist with over 8 years experience of supporting people in making positive changes in their lives. Further to her qualifications, Emma is a accredited therapist with the British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP).

Emma's core clinical training is in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). Following a period of working with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) with veterans returning from war, Emma then went on to qualify in the delivery of Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR). In addition to being a Psychotherapist, Emma has supervisory experience, which involves the mentorship of trainee practitioners.

Emma has a wide range of experience in various clinical settings, these settings include:

• Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS), working with children and young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties

• Talking Therapies Services, both in the voluntary and public sector (NHS), working with adults with depression, anxiety and trauma

• Inpatient unit for veterans returning from war with psychological injury. Working with veterans experiencing PTSD and additional difficulties, including depression and anxiety

In her own therapeutic practice, Emma places a real emphasis upon the therapeutic relationship as she recognises how important this is in creating a safe environment, where people can come and open up about the difficulties they are experiencing. Emma endeavours to actively listen to you, understand your experience and together work with you towards your goals.
