In this role, he serves as the lead clinician and holds the responsibility for the fertility unit, a role that also involves oversight by the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority (HFEA). Under his leadership, the Countess of Chester witnessed ground-breaking developments in women's healthcare. Mr Wood also championed the implementation of ambulatory gynaecology, outpatient hysteroscopy, and outpatient fertility screening, enhancing patient access and convenience. Furthermore, he played a pivotal role in introducing enhanced recovery protocols.
