About Mr Nadeem Ali
Mr. Nadeem Ali is an internationally renowned Consultant Ophthalmologist who specialises exclusively in adult squint (strabismus) surgery. Practising at the London Squint Clinic, he is one of the very few eye surgeons worldwide whose entire clinical focus is devoted to the surgical correction of squint and the treatment of diplopia (double vision). Mr. Ali pursued his medical education at Gonville and Caius College, the premier medical college of the University of Cambridge. He graduated with a rare triple First Class degree, having topped his year twice and receiving a total of 16 academic awards. During his time at Cambridge, he conducted research into ocular motor control with world-leading professors. Following his medical qualification, he undertook seven years of specialist ophthalmology training in the Northern Region, with a primary base at the Royal Victoria Infirmary. He then completed a prestigious fellowship in squint surgery under the mentorship of international expert Mike Clarke. To further broaden his expertise, Mr. Ali also trained in neuro-ophthalmology at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery in London, where he gained valuable experience in managing complex disorders of eye movement. In 2010, Mr. Ali was appointed Consultant Squint Surgeon at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London, one of the world's most prestigious eye hospitals. There, he worked alongside leading squint specialist John Lee, refining his skills in the management of advanced strabismus and double vision cases. He served as Lead for Adult Squint Surgery at Moorfields South and played a key role in monitoring surgical safety standards within the Trust. His published analysis of 4,000 squint surgeries has become a benchmark for surgical safety in the field. In 2023, he left Moorfields to focus entirely on his private practice at the London Squint Clinic. Beyond his work in London, Mr. Ali is a visiting consultant squint surgeon to the Gibraltar Health Authority and the government eye hospital in Reykjavik, Iceland. He has mentored fellows in squint surgery from both the UK and overseas and is widely respected for his dedication to patient care. In recognition of his service, he has been honoured with an NHS Hero Award.
"Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions."
