About Mr Michael Sharp

Mr Michael Sharp is a Consultant Vascular Surgeon. Mr Sharp did his surgical training in Oxford before taking up a fellowship at Guys and St Thomas' Hospital. He was then appointed as a substantive consultant at the Aberdeen Royal Infirmary in 2007. He has a comprehensive vascular surgical practice at the Aberdeen Royal Infirmary and is the lead for renal access surgery. He is an expert in looking after patients with varicose veins, which is the main focus of his private practice at the BMI Albyn hospital. He uses duplex scanning in clinic to assess the best treatment option. For most patients with significant varicose veins Mr Sharp recommends VNUS endovenous ablation and surgical avulsions in the operating theatre. He works closely with Dr David Seath an anaesthetist to make sure patients have a comfortable journey. This has proven to achieve excellent outcomes for patients. Mr Sharp is an expert with foam sclerotherapy in the outpatient setting for smaller veins when surgery is not required. Diseases, Medical Tests and Treatments
