About
Mr Pleat's interest in scarring led to them becoming Director of Research for the burns and wound healing charity, Restore. They have overseen research at Oxford and Bristol Universities, had their work published extensively, and collaborates with scarring groups internationally. They are passionate about the prevention and treatment of scarring and believe in a scientific, holistic, team approach to ameliorating the problem.
Mr Pleat is a member of the North Bristol skin cancer multidisciplinary team and is the Chair of the Skin Cancer Research Fund, the oldest skin cancer charity in the UK. They were also one of the founding editors of the national primary care resource, GPNotebook. Furthermore, they have been a panel member of the National Burn Care Standards.
Mr Pleat is a member of the Royal College of Surgeons of England, the British Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons, the British Burns Association, the European Burns Association and the British Society for Surgery of the Hand.
