Mr Dmitrewski graduated from Warsaw Medical School in Poland in 1984. After coming to the UK in 1989, he undertook surgical training in the West Midlands. He obtained his FRCS (Glasgow) in 1991. His training also included a period of research, and in 1997 he was awarded an MD by the University of Birmingham. He was appointed as a Consultant Surgeon in 1999 and retired from his NHS post at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham in 2022. Between 2011 and 2023 he also served on the Panel of Examiners for Intercollegiate Specialty Examinations in General Surgery.
