About Mr James Ritchie
Mr James Ritchie is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in Foot and Ankle Surgery in children and adults. He currently sees private patients at KIMS Hospital, Spire Gatwick Park Hospital, Nuffield Health Tunbridge Wells Hospital and Sevenoaks Medical Centre. An acknowledged expert in the treatment of foot and ankle problems from foot pain and bunions to ankle arthritis and sports injuries, Mr Ritchie is frequently invited to lecture at international courses and conferences. He is a senior Council member and Executive Officer of the European Foot and Ankle Society.
Mr Ritchie completed his medical degree at Guy's and St Thomas' Hospital, London in 1995 with an intercalated Bachelor's degree in History of Medicine from University College London. He became a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 1999 and later undertook a fellowship in Foot and Ankle Surgery at the world-renowned Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital at Stanmore. He became a Fellow in Trauma and Orthopaedics of the Royal College of Surgeons in 2004.
In 2005, he was appointed as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon in Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells and went on to lead the development of foot and ankle surgery in the area including setting up the only multidisciplinary Charcot diabetic foot and ankle clinic in Kent.
Mr Ritchie specialises in all aspects of foot and ankle problems in children and adults, from foot pain and ingrowing toenails, through sports injuries and fractures to total ankle replacement. He utilises the most up to date surgical techniques to optimise outcomes and recovery times for his patients.
Alongside his clinical practice, he holds professional memberships with the British Orthopaedics Foot and Ankle Society, the European Foot and Ankle Society, the British Orthopaedic Association and the Orthopaedics Expert Working Group for NHS England.
