About
Mr Hugh O'Kane is a consultant Urological Surgeon at the Belfast City Hospital.
He received his MD degree from the Queens University Belfast and trained in urology in Northern Ireland. Mr O'Kane undertook a Fellowship training in prostate cancer surgery in the Royal Adelaide Hospital in South Australia. In 2009 he completed his FRCS (Edinburgh) in Urology and in 2011 was appointed as a consultant at the Belfast City Hospital. He is currently the clinical lead for urological cancer in the Belfast Trust.
Mr O'Kane has a special interest in general urology and urological cancers. He sees patients with a range of benign and cancerous urological conditions and offers rapid assessment and management using modern diagnostic tests and therapeutic procedures. Some of the most frequent conditions Mr O'Kane manages include urinary symptoms - incontinence, urinary tract infections, prostate problems, phimosis/circumcision, testicular and scrotal problems, vasectomy - vasectomy reversal, prostate /bladder/renal cancer diagnosis and management.
Mr O'Kane is an expert in the usage of next-generation surgical robot for minimally invasive treatment of prostate cancer.
Mr O'Kane is a member of the British Association of Urological Surgeons and European Association of Urology and has published extensively in the field of Uro-Oncology.
