About

Mr. Elijah Ablorsu is an experienced Consultant in General and Transplant Surgery, with a particular focus on hernias, Sportsman's groin, and gallstones. He practises both privately at the Vale Hospital in South Wales and within the NHS at the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff.
His medical journey began at Comenius University in Slovakia, where he obtained an MD degree in 1999 and initiated his postgraduate surgical training. Throughout his training, Mr. Ablorsu developed a keen interest in biliary and pancreatic surgery, pancreas and kidney transplantation. He further honed his expertise through fellowships in Liver and Pancreatic Surgery at Hammersmith Hospital in London, Transplant Surgery in Manchester, and Hepato-biliary and Transplant Surgery in Oxford.
Mr. Ablorsu is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and the European Board of Surgery, and he is affiliated with several professional bodies. His practice encompasses advanced laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery for gallstones and hernias, including single-incision laparoscopic surgery, which offers patients improved cosmetic outcomes, reduced post-operative pain, and faster recovery.
Mr. Ablorsu is also actively engaged in research and service development. He has conducted clinical studies on topics such as the benefits of Machine preservation in kidney transplantation outcomes and biomarkers in hypothermic machine preservation. His research findings are regularly presented and published in national and international forums.
As Clinical Lead for Organ retrievals, Mr. Ablorsu played a pivotal role in expanding the organ retrieval service in Cardiff, creating job opportunities and contributing to service improvement. He is also committed to training and education, serving as an Educational Supervisor and mentor for trainees at the Wales Deanery.

“Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions.”
