TRAINING & BACKGROUND

Mr Chauhan graduated from Dundee University & undertook early surgical training in Sheffield, where he also lectured at the University. His specialist orthopaedic training was completed in Leeds, followed by a fellowship at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital, Birmingham, a nationally recognised centre for complex hip & knee surgery.

ARTHROSCOPY, CARTILAGE SURGERY & INNOVATION

A major focus of Mr Chauhan’s career has been arthroscopic knee surgery & cartilage treatment. He undertook cartilage & arthroscopy research at Smith & Nephew’s Research Facility in York, with collaborative work involving University College London, contributing to the early validation & clinical application of cartilage imaging techniques.

He went on to establish & develop a specialist arthroscopic knee service in Southend on Sea, where he was appointed Consultant & continues to practise. His work has centred on joint preserving strategies, aiming to relieve pain, restore function, & delay or avoid joint replacement where appropriate.

Mr Chauhan is particularly recognised for developing minimally invasive techniques for anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction, including refined approaches to hamstring tendon harvesting designed to reduce tissue trauma & support faster rehabilitation.

JOINT REPLACEMENT, ROBOTICS & INJECTION THERAPIES

In addition to joint preserving surgery, Mr Chauhan has extensive experience in hip & knee joint replacement.
